PATTI KIM (패티김) Ariran (Arirang)/Toraji (Japan) Columbia SA-643 with PS (June 1961 – I’m pretty confident that this date is correct (as indicated on back of sleeve) and it’s very very early for a PATTI KIM release. The label style and cat. # have it as around the same period but predating Kenji Kitahara’s ‘Wakai Futari’ which was mid 1962. This Columbia SA series for Japanese based artists ran from circ. 1958 to 63/64, and by cat # this single is from somewhere between late 1960 and late 1961, so mid 61 seems just about right. Interesting Japanese sounding version of Arirang with both Japanese and Korean vocals. Nice pic on sleeve.)
Collectors notes: Rare. There was also another early Japanese PATTI KIM single from a bit later on the Union label (US-550-J)
Mic’s collection status: I have this record, my copy is genuinely near mint under strong light. Sleeve is clean and EX or better but has very mild age marks on back.
