rare Korean Columbia 78 (Standard Play) recordings from 1907 on CD

Although this site web site is predominately devoted to non-Korean vinyl releases of Korean music, I have decided to occasionally include some odd Korean pressing items from my collection that are of special interest or have especially cool covers, and in this case an CD related to rare Korean SP (78 rpm) records.

      

    

RECORDINGS OF THE FIRST MUSIC RELEASED ON 78 RPM RECORDS IN KOREA : COMPACT DISC release Tracks: Please click on scans above to expand for details (South Korea) Korea restored phonograph record series DGACD 001 ( 2007 numbered limited edition of 1000 copies of the 8 tracks from the 30 1906 first recordings of Korean music tracks to be released on the 8 known Korean Columbia one-sided 78 rpm discs released in 1907. Taken directly from the genuinely ultra rare original 78s (Standard Play records) by South Korean 78 archivist and SP record specialist Bae Yeon Hyung (배연형). CD includes an insert booklet with extensive information about the records themsleves, the music and also the context of the period in Korean when they were first released.)

RECORDINGS OF THE 1913 78 RPM RECORDS REALESED IN KOREA BY PANSORI SINGER SONG MAN-GAP: COMPACT DISC release Tracks: Please click on scans above to expand for details (South Korea) Korea restored phonograph record series DGACD 001 ( 2008 numbered limited edition of 1000 copies. Includes a 42 page Korean language insert booklet with extensive information about Song Man-Gap, these recordings and original 1913 releases, and  the Korean context at the time this music was made. The booklet also includes a number of pages written in English that provides a summary of the Korean language information provided.)
